Simple browsing (no account)
If you simply visit memown.com without creating an account, the site sets no tracking cookies, uses no audience-measurement (analytics) tool and itself collects no personal data. Fonts are self-hosted on the domain: no requests to any third-party service. The only information stored is a first-party technical marker in your browser's localStorage (it remembers that you closed the information banner) — never transmitted, it does not identify you and does not track you. As with any website, our hosts (Vercel for the site, Cloudflare for downloads) technically process your IP address in order to deliver the pages and files to you.
Creating an account (sign-up / sign-in)
Registrations are currently closed, and downloading memown does not require an account.
If you create an account or sign in, we process:
- your email address and your password — the password is never stored in clear text: it is hashed (PBKDF2-SHA256), irreversibly;
- your name (optional), if you provide it when signing up;
- if you use “Sign in with Google” (optional), the name and email address of your Google profile;
- a strictly necessary session cookie (httponly) that keeps you signed in — it is not an advertising cookie; it is used only for authentication.
Purposes: creating and managing your account, authenticating you and sending you verification and password-reset emails. Legal basis: performance of the contract (provision of the account) and legitimate interest (security of the service).
Processors / recipients
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting of the authentication service and of the accounts database (Workers + D1);
- Resend — sending of transactional emails (verification, reset), servers in the European Union;
- Google LLC — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”;
- Vercel Inc. — website hosting.
Cloudflare, Google, Resend and Vercel are US companies: transfers outside the EU are covered by the standard contractual clauses and/or the Data Privacy Framework. We do not sell or rent any data.
The memown software
The memown software runs locally on your machine (on first launch, it downloads its engine, llama.cpp, from GitHub; the model is a file you download yourself, for example from Hugging Face): it opens no connection to our servers for inference and sends us none of your content (prompts, files, models). The local API listens on your machine — what leaves it depends solely on the tools you connect to it.
Retention
Account data is kept for as long as your account exists; sessions expire automatically. You may request the deletion of your account and your data at any time.
